Day 9

 Day 9-Thursday, April 29

Started my day with shrimp and grits at the Sand Dollar Café since I wanted to go to the car wash in Port St. Joe to power wash the bugs off the front of our van.  The trip was successful; the grits were great and the bugs are gone.

This restaurant is in a converted gas station, and decorated in the 50's memorabilia.  During Hurricane Michael the water level inside this restaurant was above the second row of shelves.

If you’re not familiar with the grits scene in My Cousin Vinny, it’s worth another viewing.  It reinforces the value of grits to Southerners.

After our left-over pizza lunch, we drove out the St. Joe Peninsula to the state park and spent the afternoon at a bay side beach where I did some snorkeling and Wendy collected shells.  Carl & Joni stayed in the shade under their umbrella.  The powdered-sugar sand, blue sky, and turquoise water rival the Virgin Islands for beauty.

We returned to Port St. Joe for dinner, all of us selecting pasta and seafood combinations that were exceptionally tasty.

  2. A+ on the Pesci grits video. It gives me great relief knowing that you are not Brian Wilson, lying in bed, watching that moon. Keep having fun.
