Day 10

 Day 10-Friday, April 30

Our first cloudy day, but there was no rain in the forecast, so the clouds were a welcome break from sun.

After breakfast I went for a bike ride.  Obviously there are no hills, the traffic is light, and there’s a bike path, so it’s an ideal opportunity.  My ride took me along the St. Joseph peninsula, toward the state park.  I covered 12 miles and saw only two other cyclists.

Nothing too exciting happened in the afternoon:  hotdogs for lunch, shopping for a new mask and snorkel (mine must be 30 years old and leaked), and swimming in front of our rental.

Dinner was elegant.  We drove to Apalachicola for dinner at one of our favorite places, The Owl Café.  The Owl is located in a old building, very reminiscent of a New Orleans French Quarter establishment.  The bar was huge with beautiful walnut wood woodwork.  Our dishes included linguine and shrimp with a garlic, olive oil, mushroom, spinach, and red pepper flakes and parmesan filet of beef, and jambalaya!  Although none of us needed it, we shared two desserts that included a variety of chocolate, toffee, and pecans.

  2. Your dishes sure beat my failed attempt at cacio e pepe. One and done!
